Giving and Receiving Business Cards
Hi everyone, and welcome back to another daily English lesson! Today, we’re going to focus on a crucial aspect of business etiquette: giving and receiving business cards.
Exchanging business cards is a common practice in many professional settings. It’s a quick and easy way to share your contact information and build connections. But there are some important etiquette rules to keep in mind.
- “Present your card with both hands, if possible, and make eye contact with the recipient.”
- “Offer your card face up so the recipient can easily read your information.”
- “Briefly state your name and position as you present your card. For example, ‘Hello, I’m Charles and I’m the Marketing Manager at Global World”.
- “If you receive a card, take a moment to read it carefully and show that you value the connection. You can say something like, ‘Thank you, it’s a pleasure to meet you, [add the Recipient’s Name].'”
- “When receiving a card, take it with both hands and express your appreciation.”
- “Read the card carefully to show that you value the information.”
- “Make a brief comment about the card or the recipient’s company if appropriate. For example, ‘I’m impressed with your company’s work in, [ add the name of the industry].'”
- “Store the card carefully in a business card holder or a designated area in your wallet.”
Good practises:
- “Always carry a sufficient number of business cards with you.”
- “Ensure your cards are up-to-date with your current contact information.”
- “Consider having your card translated if you are conducting business internationally.”
“Exchanging business cards is a simple yet important aspect of professional etiquette. By following these tips, you can make a positive impression and build valuable connections.
