Common Business Idioms (Part 1)

Common Business Idioms (Part 1)

Hi everyone, and welcome back to another daily English lesson! Today, we’re going to explore the colourful world of business idioms. Idioms are phrases that have a figurative meaning, different from the literal meaning of the individual words. They are common in everyday conversation, especially in business settings. Let’s learn a few today!

Idiom 1: To think outside the box.

To think outside the box means to think creatively and come up with unconventional solutions or ideas. It encourages us to break away from traditional thinking patterns and explore new and innovative approaches.

Idiom 2: To touch base.

To touch base means to make brief contact with someone, usually to update them on something or to see how they are doing. For example, I’ll touch base with you next week to discuss the project further.

Idiom 3: To go the extra mile.

To go the extra mile means to put in extra effort or do more than is expected. It shows dedication and commitment. For example, Our team always goes the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction.

Learning and using business idioms will not only enhance your English fluency but also make your communication more natural and engaging.

Try to use these idioms in your own sentences to practice and improve your understanding.
